History of Panasoft's Software Development
Panasoft software has been developed over a period of ten years with roots that started many years prior. Eighteen years ago, through a company named Metrocomp, the concepts of parameter driven software coupled to a database management system were laid down and developed into a very successful package called "IDEAS". This system was marketed to over 1300 users in the Southern California area alone. It was this tried and true distribution and accounting system that served as the base of design for the current Panasoft software.
As computer hardware developed further and UNIX-based operating systems were released for business systems, the concept of developing an "open system" version of the IDEAS package was conceived . . . and that was when Panasoft was born. Through many years of dealing with customers of all types, we realized that many of the distribution businesses had a need for retail software . . . and retailers were often entering into distribution through mail order.
Thus, the overall concept of an integrated distribution/retail and accounting system was set as the goal for the new open system software. Over a period of several years, as many as 22 systems designers, project leaders, and programmers worked together to make this goal come true. The result was a system offering the best of retail and distribution sales, integrated with accounting, using the latest technology of open system design and functionality.
